At Methodist West, a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, we work closely with Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons (DMOS) because we want you to have the very best care. This experienced group of surgeons was the first in the state of Iowa to perform a total knee replacement. The Orthopaedic Center of Excellence at Methodist West and Iowa Methodist perform more orthopaedic surgeries in Iowa than any other hospital system.


The 12-bed maternity center includes private labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms, allowing mothers to stay in one room for the duration of their stay. There is also a newborn nursery with one continuing care neonatal bed. Offering experienced staff and 24/7 on-staff neonatal support in partnership with Blank Children's Hospital.


Methodist West was the first and only hospital in Central Iowa to employ Patient Care Facilitators.
The surgery department contains 14 private, pre-operative rooms, six leading edge operating rooms and an endoscopy suite.
