In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and scaling the foundational services that orchestrate data, content, and execution logic across CrowdStrike’s products (e.g., NGSIEM, FCS, Endpoint). You will be a key driver in creating a highly performant, scalable, and resilient platform that processes internet‑scale data streams and enables real‑time detection generation. This role is for an experienced mid‑level backend microservices developer adept with cloud engineering principles. About The Team The CrowdStrike Detection Engine (CDE) team is building a powerful, next‑generation platform designed to be a force multiplier for security teams. We build large scalable tier‑1 distributed systems and highly available APIs which are used by our customers and partners. Our platform empowers customers who leverage multiple Falcon products to create and manage advanced, unified detections and content. This core platform capability is a strategic imperative for CrowdStrike, aiming to provide a competitive advantage that is difficult to replicate, ensuring our customers have unparalleled detection and response capabilities across the entire Falcon ecosystem. This is a hybrid role based out of our office in Sunnyvale CA or Redmond WA. Candidate should be comfortable visiting the office twice a week once the development center is established. What You’ll Do Lead backend engineering efforts from rapid prototypes to large‑scale applications across CrowdStrike products. Design, develop, document, test, deploy, operate and enhance large‑scale, resilient and fault‑tolerant services. Take ownership and be accountable for deliverables. Work on cross‑team platform‑level initiatives and projects. Troubleshoot critical production issues during on‑call rotations and implement solutions. Triage system issues and debug by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations. Be mentored and mentor other developers on web, backend and data storage technologies and our system. Constantly re‑evaluate our product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance and stability. What You’ll Use Go (Golang) Java Python git Cassandra Kafka OpenSearch Redis AWS Cloud What You’ll Need 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on large‑scale distributed systems and internet‑scale challenges. Degree in Computer Science (or commensurate experience in data structures/algorithms/distributed systems). Expert knowledge of any of the following backend languages: Go, Scala, Java, Node.js or Python (We use Go extensively) The ability to scale backend systems – sharding, partitioning, scaling horizontally are second nature to you. The desire to ship code and the love of seeing your bits run in production. Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges. Team player skills – we embrace collaborating as a team as much as possible. A thorough understanding of engineering best practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture. The ability to thrive in a fast paced, test‑driven, collaborative and iterative programming environment. The ability to troubleshoot and pinpoint system failures across a broad pipeline of services. The skills to meet your commitments on time and produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration. Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision‑making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes. Bonus Points Authored and led successful open source libraries and projects. Contributions to the open source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging). Existing exposure to Go, Scala, AWS, Kafka, OpenSearch. Prior work in a security domain or building platform services. Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location. The base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, 401k and paid time off.
