JOB SUMMARY:
In this role, you will manage incoming patient referrals and coordinate the authorization process to ensure patients are efficiently moved into care. The Referral Coordinator supports a specialty vein clinic team and plays an important role in connecting referring providers, insurance requirements, and internal clinical staff to maintain a smooth patient intake workflow. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in medical office or referral-based environments.


REFERRAL COORDINATOR PAY/SCHEDULE/LOCATION/BENEFITS:
Pay range: $17.00-$19.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (No weekends)
Location: On-site, Stone Oak area, San Antonio, TX

REFERRAL COORDINATOR DUTIES:
Manage incoming patient referrals from physicians and healthcare partners to initiate care workflows
Review referral documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness before processing
Coordinate insurance authorization requirements related to referral approval and patient eligibility
Track referral status from intake through approval to ensure timely processing
Communicate with referring offices to obtain missing documentation or clarify referral details
Collaborate with insurance and clinical teams to support efficient patient onboarding
Route approved referrals to scheduling for appointment coordination and next steps


REFERRAL COORDINATOR REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED:
1+ year of medical office, referral coordination, or prior authorization experience
Strong communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage detailed documentation and follow-up processes
Proficiency with basic office systems (Word, Excel, EMR/scheduling systems)
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must pass drug screen and criminal background check
No visible tattoos (client workplace policy)
High school diploma or GED required
PREFERRED:
Experience with insurance workflows or prior authorization processes
Bilingual English/Spanish
