Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nurse Specialty: Float/Med Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 24 months in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele is required. License: Must hold an active Iowa license or compact/multistate license. Certifications: - BLS (Basic Life Support) - ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - NIH Stroke Scale Certificate is a nice to have. - De-Escalation Certificate (preferred) Must-Have: - Experience and proficiency with drips including heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin. - Ability to read EKG/ECG, including all telemetry-related duties and responsibilities. - Epic EMR experience is required. Description: This position requires a registered nurse to float across multiple units based on staffing needs. The nurse will primarily care for patients in Med Surg and will be expected to assist in several areas, including Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and some post-procedural units. Floating is mandatory, and there is no designated home unit. Nurses must be comfortable with telemetry readings and managing various intravenous drips. Candidates must possess a history of successful nursing performance and solid references. Flexibility in scheduling is important, as the nurse will be required to work 1-2 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed. Nurses are expected to complete a Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a passing score of 80% during onboarding. This position may also involve charge and precepting responsibilities. A professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager from within the past 24 months is preferred. Nurses must have skills relevant to the Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, and Tele areas of nursing.
