Ohio has joined the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), which allows an LPN to hold one multistate license (MSL) in their primary state of residence while practicing in 37 other compact states across the country.

Provides patient care as directed, documents patient-related care timely within the electronic health record, maintains patient medical records, administers medication, performs treatments, assists with Doctor's Sick Call, assists with chronic care clinics management, participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities, responds to emergencies, provides emergency care, collects vital signs, collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens, may perform venipuncture, prepares patients for release and/or transfer, ensures discharge medication orders are completed, participates in work-related training, provides assistance to other healthcare staff, investigates and documents problem areas, reviews shift report, assists physicians with medical procedures, assumes duties of other nurses during absences, observes, documents and provides nursing support to assistive personnel, provides patient education, participates in continuous quality improvement activities, performs administrative duties, attends meetings, schedules multidisciplinary team meetings, performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies, assists ancillary staff, and must work overtime as required.

License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code; MDS certification issued by ANNAC (i.e. American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination). Job skills include nursing, basic medical procedures, direct support/direct care, medical charting, medication management, cultural awareness, problem solving, customer focus, teamwork, and confidentiality.
