Position: Camp Custodian Location: Wetumpka, AL Job Id: 246 # of Openings: 1 Camp Custodian YMCA Camp Chandler YMCA Camp Chandler is seeking a dedicated and reliable Camp Custodianto join our team at YMCA Camp Chandler in Wetumpka, AL. This position focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for campers and staff. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working around children and committed to upholding the YMCA’s values. Position Summary The Camp Custodian is responsible for performing cleaning duties throughout the camp facilities, including cabins, restrooms, dining areas, and common spaces.The custodian ensures that all areas are sanitary and orderly to provide a positive camp experience for all participants. Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize cabins, restrooms, dining halls, and other camp buildings daily. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces as needed. Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and common areas. Maintain cleanliness of outdoor common areas and walkways. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to camp management promptly. Work cooperatively with camp staff and interact positively with campers and visitors. Follow all YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to child safety and confidentiality. General Qualifications Commitment to the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff in a camp environment. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be at least 18 years of age. Pass a background check and comply with all YMCA child protection policies. Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. This position is based at YMCA Camp Chandler, located in a natural outdoor setting.
