Recreational Facilities Technician - City

This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Grounds Management Division of the Parks and Recreation Department within the City of Oklahoma City. An eligibility list will be established or supplemented for filling future vacancies per provisions of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Collective Bargaining Agreement. An employee in this classification may work alone or perform as a lead worker to complete the assigned tasks. Job requirements may vary dependent upon assignment; however, the Recreational Facilities Technician must possess the required license and/or certification and two or more journeyman-level skills associated with the specified departmental or divisional job requirements and identified as essential functions of the position prior to assuming the duties of this position. Essential job functions include: installing, inspecting, monitoring, and maintaining new or existing recreational equipment and facilities in compliance with regulatory and department requirements; performing journey-level carpentry; masonry/concrete finishing; painting; or welding duties. Other duties include: assuming full responsibility for following all procedures related to work safety and equipment inspection and maintenance, following both written and verbal instructions, carrying out assignments independently or as a member of a crew, and completing work orders, safety reports, and other work-related records or reports on a daily basis. The employee must exhibit tact and diplomacy in communication with citizens, contractors, co-workers, and other departmental personnel concerning relevant aspects of work performed. The work product is subject to inspection by the supervisor upon completion.

Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Active Duty Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and who meet the qualifications for the position shall be given preference. To receive preference, veterans must submit verification of honorable discharge from the United States military service (Department of Defense Form DD214 or NGB Form 22) prior to the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
