Wholesale DE Mortgage Underwriter

An established mortgage banker is seeking an experienced Wholesale DE Mortgage Underwriter to join its team. We're looking for a collaborative underwriter who thrives on engaging with the origination team and is comfortable picking up the phone to ensure clear communication and accurate loan decisions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations
• Analyze borrower financials, credit reports, and property appraisals to determine eligibility
• Assess risk and provide thorough loan decisions with clear explanations and conditions
• Collaborate closely with processors, loan officers, and stakeholders to resolve questions and expedite the process
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, guidelines, and best practices

Qualifications

• Active DE is required; VA is a plus
• Must have underwritten frontline new purchase loans within the past 3 years
• Minimum 5 years of recent wholesale residential mortgage underwriting experience
• Strong understanding of FHA, VA, Conventional, Non-QM, Renovation, Construction to Perm and Jumbo products
• Experience with Encompass strongly preferred
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

• Salary: $85,000 $95,000 per year
• Paid overtime, Monthly bonus
