Role Responsibilities Assess patients from pediatric to geriatric groups using both standardized tests and observations. Create tailored treatment strategies that target immediate needs while considering longer-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives. Deliver personalized speech therapy aimed at improving communication, language skills, fluency, vocal abilities, and swallowing functions. Work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team that includes physical and occupational therapists, medical professionals, aides, and families to develop unified care plans. Educate patients and their families to reinforce progress beyond the therapy setting. Occasionally conduct inpatient evaluations and therapies to ensure a smooth transition in care throughout the treatment process. Provide thorough and prompt documentation that meets state, federal, and facility standards. Engage in ongoing education to stay abreast of advancements in speech-language pathology and collaborate with peers for shared growth. Qualifications Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified. Required Certifications State licensure as a Speech Language Therapist . Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment. Essential Skills Strong foundation in evidence-based assessment and treatment across all age groups, with an emphasis on both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with patients, family members, and multidisciplinary teams. Adeptness in customizing therapy approaches to accommodate diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Solid clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
