We are partnered with a leading national general contractor seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to support large-scale mission critical/data center construction projects. This position will serve as the site authority for energy isolation and energization activities, managing the process from pre-energization through commissioning, turnover, and project completion.

The Energy Marshal will work closely with project leadership, safety teams, commissioning teams, electrical contractors, and trade partners to ensure electrical systems are energized, isolated, tested, and turned over safely. The ideal candidate brings a strong electrical and safety background with direct experience in data center construction and commissioning environments.

\n

Role and Responsibilities

\n
• Manage site energy isolation and energization activities from pre-energization through commissioning and final turnover.
\n
• Own and administer the site Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, ensuring procedures are properly developed, implemented, and followed.
\n
• Manage electrical room access permits, controlled access, and electrical room attendance.
\n
• Perform pre-energization inspections and verify systems are ready for safe energization.
\n
• Review and audit energy isolation procedures for compliance, effectiveness, and safe execution.
\n
• Serve as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for energy isolation and provide technical guidance to project teams and trade partners.
\n
• Review commissioning plans, quality documentation, and related reports prior to system energization.
\n
• Interpret electrical one-line drawings, system configurations, and redundancy schemes to ensure appropriate LOTO and isolation procedures.
\n
• Coordinate isolation requirements involving multiple energy sources, with particular emphasis on electrical systems.
\n
• Participate in daily and weekly High-Risk Activity (HRA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and safety meetings.
\n
• Support preparation and review of procedures associated with high-risk energization and energy isolation activities.
\n
• Audit field practices against established project and safety standards and identify corrective actions when required.
\n
• Work with construction, safety, quality, and commissioning teams to continuously improve energy-control procedures.
\n
• Communicate technical energy-isolation requirements clearly to engineers, field leadership, craft professionals, and non-technical stakeholders.
\n
• Act as an independent authority with the ability to stop work when unsafe energy-isolation practices are identified.

Qualifications and Experience

\n

\n
• 4+ years of experience in energy isolation, electrical safety, commissioning, or a closely related field required.
\n
• Direct experience with data center construction and commissioning standards and practices strongly preferred.
\n
• NFPA 70E certification required.
\n
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant field experience.
\n
• Strong working knowledge of LOTO and electrical safe-work practices.
\n
• Experience managing or auditing energization and isolation procedures in active construction environments.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line drawings and understand system redundancy.
\n
• Knowledge of electrical equipment across multiple voltage levels and both AC and DC systems.
\n
• Experience working around multiple hazardous energy sources.
\n
• Strong field presence with the confidence to enforce energy-control procedures and stop unsafe work.
\n
• Ability to coordinate effectively with commissioning teams, electrical contractors, project management, safety personnel, and trade partners.
