It includescustomer, product and system-level requirements development andvalidation. Must be capable of effectively assessing and mitigatingrisk across all levels and multiple disciplines.Key Responsibilities:Develop specifications, statements of work, and action plans tosource, design, develop, and release electro-mechanicalcomponents for conventional and electrified propulsion systemsDevelop, oversee, and serve as a subject matter expert on theexecution of validation plans for components and systems inlaboratory, test cell, vehicle environments and with suppliersPrepare and present technical status reports, schedules, andbudgets for a variety of audiences including Executive StaffProactively identify gaps and risks in the design and validation ofthe components and develop/support/track mitigation plansProvide a high level of oversight and guidance in the root causeinvestigation and resolution of field issues as opportunities withfielded products ariseExercise project leadership in system integration with controlsystems engineering teamsProvide advanced product technical support to suppliers,customers and cross functional departmentsKey Performance Measures:Decision-making characteristics for the Electromechanicalcomponents with suppliers, source of supply issues, continuousimprovements, and New Product Development initiativesDeliver quality validated components per project milestonesProvide programmatic leadership that optimize cost, quality andtiming constraintsFrequently sought out as a resource by other team membersand /or functions as a mentor to guide decision making andaction plansCompetencies and Behaviors:Problem Solving: Strong problem solving and analytical skillsTechnical Knowledge: Advanced and specialized expertise that isleveraged by various groups to establish tactics and strategiesCommunication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in across-functional settingOwnership: Be accountable for program deliverablesDrive: Flexible, motivated, and capable of making changes toimprove and sustain functional proficiencyQualifications:Required: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering,electrical engineering or similar engineering disciplineProven and successful record of working autonomously withinestablished practices and proceduresExperience:20+ years of experience with developing electronic controlsystem hardwareExperience in the Automotive and Commercial VehicleapplicationsExperience with DVP&R development.Scope FactorsProducts:Across all product linesResponsibilities:Has advanced and specialized expertiseWorks autonomously within established procedures andpracticesCritical thinking utilizing data driven decision making skillsand complex problem-solving abilities to solve uniqueproblems of a difficult natureAbility to communicate complex issues cross functionally andanalyze possible solutionsResponsible for managing vendor technical relationships.Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer that provides componentdesign recommendations and development supportConsistently delivers a high level of oversight and guidancewith suppliers and cross functional teams for source ofsupply and warranty issuesFrequently works with cross functional teams for componentobsolescence resourcing activitiesBroad exposure and partnerships with various levels acrossthe organization up through Executive StaffBudget:Ability to manage a small component specific budget.Management scope:No direct reportsInteractions:External interactions with suppliersInternal interactions within engineering and across functionsat various levels of the organizationThis position must informally lead & mentor other ECHengineers to build organizational capabilityExposure:Engineering, Service, Quality, Ops, Purchasing, Planning,MSS, Supplier, External CustomersBroad exposure and partnerships with various levels acrossthe organization up through Executive StaffLocation scope of responsibility: LocallyTravel or Physical Demands:Some travel may be required (Up to 25%)May require international travel.Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
