Phlebotomist - ALL SHIFTS

Job Summary Phlebotomist II – Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. Responsible for performing venipunctures and skin punctures on all age groups, processing specimens, registering patients, facilitating billing, and maintaining accessibility of specimen accession procedures in a clinical setting. Supports in‑patient care, skilled nursing facilities, and homebound patients while ensuring compliance with Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. Responsibilities Perform venipunctures and skin punctures on neonates through adults. Obtain, record, and handle blood specimens with the highest analytical quality. Process specimens for analysis and facilitate accurate billing. Accession specimens accurately, ensuring positive identification and resolving discrepancies. Evaluate specimen suitability, acceptability, and resolve or refer problems as appropriate. Maintain Point of Care instruments, including troubleshooting and quality control. Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols. Provide phlebotomy coverage in the Medical Group offices, skilled nursing facilities, or in‑home settings. Complete initial and subsequent competency exams. Maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. Required Experience & Qualifications 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience or graduation from Geisinger’s Phlebotomy Program. Proficiency in using computer systems to register patients and record results. Knowledge of CLIA guidelines and specimen collection requirements. Effective interpersonal communication skills and a comforting demeanor toward patients. Physical stamina to perform frequent specimen collection and record keeping. ASCP certification is preferred; military experience with relevant medical specialties is considered. Benefits Full health, dental, and vision benefits starting on day one.
