Litigation/Transactional Attorney â€" HOA/COA Law

A growing law firm is seeking an attorney to join its Community Association practice. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to maintain a diverse practice that includes both litigation and transactional work on behalf of condominium and homeowner associations.

The successful candidate will work closely with association boards, property managers, and experienced attorneys to provide practical legal counsel and effective representation. Critical thinking, drafting skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong client service are essential for success in this role. Candidates should possess strong academic credentials, a willingness to accept responsibility, and a commitment to professional excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

• Represent condominium and homeowner associations in litigation matters, including covenant enforcement, collections, contract disputes, and other association-related issues.
• Prepare and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
• Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials as needed.
• Draft and review demand letters, collection correspondence, lien notices, lien waivers/releases, and other enforcement-related documents.
• Draft, review, and amend declarations, indentures, bylaws, covenants, restrictions, and other governing documents.
• Prepare amendments to association governing documents and advise clients on governance and compliance matters.
• Counsel boards of directors and property managers on legal issues involving operations, governance, and risk management.
• Draft resolutions, policies, contracts, and other transactional documents.
• Conduct legal research and provide practical guidance on issues impacting community associations.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, proactive service.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active Missouri law license.
• Prior litigation experience required; experience in community association law, real estate law, collections, or transactional drafting preferred.
• Strong legal writing, drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple client matters simultaneously.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused approach.
• Ability to work collaboratively while independently managing assigned matters.
