Chemical Plant Operator

Job TitleESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Loads and/or unloads trucks, totes, drums, and railcars as requiredPerforms lab analysis as requiredPrints Bills of Lading and Certificates of Analysis as requiredOperates the plant-specific chemical process systems as neededOperates forklift and pay loader as neededMeasure and record accurate product, process, and safety data.Performs lab analysis as requiredMeet the physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, climbing, crouching, operating tools, and wearing safety gearMust be able to interface courteously with customers via telephone during night/weekend hours, when needed; good basic "people skills"Observe all company, local, state, and federal safety, and quality regulationsAdheres to all ISO standard operating proceduresAttends monthly safety meetings and required training seminarsPerforms other duties as required/assigned by Plant Manager, Immediate Supervisor, or Transportation SupervisorQUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GED requiredMore education or experience in a related field may be requiredUnderstanding of chemical processAptitude for mechanicsAbility to read and comprehend detailed specifications, basic computer skillsMust be able to perform several mental tasks simultaneouslyExperience working with front-end loaders may be preferred or requiredStrong verbal and written communication skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Perform physical activities that require frequent climbing of stairs and ladders and working around industrial equipment.Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.Lifting could include objects up to 50 pounds.This description should not be considered "all-inclusive" of job requirements and may change as needed or as directed.Southern Ionics Inc. is an equal-opportunity employer.
