POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Post & Print’s (P&Ps) Manager is responsible for the management of P&P’s daily operations, establishes policies, procedures, and priorities for printing and postal operations, coordinates the graphic, photocopy, press, and bindery functions to achieve quality printing in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner, and oversees the operation of the mail collection, sorting, and distribution to various mail service providers. The Manager is responsible for enforcement of P&P policies regarding all promotional materials and communications and use of the various Nisqually-based logos and compliance with tribal and federal postal regulations in the receipt, handling, and distribution of all classes of mail. This role will also support the stabilization of in-store operations, including evaluation the current processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and supporting service and revenue growth.
REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Excellent administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated familiarity with developing technologies in graphic arts, printing, and mailing as well as the ability to apply those technologies. Computer literacy and experience with print production, design, and estimating software (e.g., Canva, Adobe suite / Creative Cloud or similar tools) is required and vital for success. Ability to train and develop printing and mail services staff members. Ability to work with deadlines and under pressure. Strong customer service and problem-solving skills. Financial and budgetary experience. Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced and evolving operational environment.
Education & Experience:
- High School Degree or equivalent.
- At least five years of experience is required in progressively responsible positions in the graphic arts or printing business, with at least three years in supervisory positions requiring skills in quality production, selling, pricing, estimating, and general management.
- 3-5 years of management experience.
Preferred Education:
· Minimum AA/AS; prefer BA/BS in Business, Management, Graphic Arts, Industrial Management, or a related field is preferred.

Leadership
- Assures the ability of P&P’s service to remain competitive in order to operate on a self-sustaining basis by being knowledgeable of the local printing market, employing printing operations which are cost efficient, purchasing supplies which have been competitively bid, establishing chargeable costs which are based upon the actual costs of labor and supplies, utilizing and training staff to use estimating and billing software, researching and recommending upgrades and alternative estimating and billing software, and contracting with outside vendors for unique or special printing jobs which are beyond the capability of the department.
- Develops or co-develops budget and monthly reporting to ensure P&P stays effective in the delivery of their goods and services.
- Ensures that P&P produced materials reflect quality and excellence in printing and promote a positive image. Informs customers of established printing policies and enforces P&P policies regarding printed materials & products, such as identity standards and EEO language, and use of logos and copy right materials.
- Manages and prioritizes the daily operations of P&P based on staffing levels, workload, and business needs. Coordinates and directs the various functions of printing & other services including graphic arts, photocopy, screen printing, embroidery services in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner, assigning print jobs and assignments to appropriately trained staff.
- Ensures safety and risk reduction including defending against potential loss of its authority to operate an independent mail service by ensuring that P&P’s mail services comply with all tribal, federal postal rules and regulations in the receipt, handling, and distribution of all classes of mail & packaging.
- Ensures the proper development of P&P competencies and trains to assure top notch service and delivery.
- Ensures that all equipment is properly operating, maintained, and calibrated accordingly.
- Provides a special mail service to Nisqually business operations as requested.
- Manage objectives and departmental budgets and exercises proper budgetary oversight in compliance with established standards including providing input, formulating budgetary recommendations, monitoring, verifying, and reconciling budget expenditures, gathering, recording, and analyzing data for billing, preparing reports, establishing department goals and objectives, and suggesting updates as appropriate. Supports efforts to rebuild and grow the customer base through service improvements and operational consistency
- Ensures the proper recruiting and hiring of qualified applicants, providing training on P&P and other governing policies and procedures, ensures appropriate work assignments, supervising work activities, and evaluating employee performance.
- Orders and ensures that P&P has sufficient supplies and equipment for daily operations by determining the amount and type of supplies and equipment needed, requesting those supplies and equipment, and maintaining a perpetual inventory for all supplies.
- Ability to assess current operations and implement process improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Printing Services
- Ensures that P&P’s printing service provides a quality printing service for its customers and is self-sustaining by providing vision, planning, and establishing operational policies for printing and other service activities including staffing, budgets, and all phases of printing operations.
- Provides quality printing and other services to customers by advising customers on capabilities and limitations, recommending printing options which meets or exceeds their needs, establishing printing costs which are competitive, coordinating viable completion dates and scheduling printing and other jobs, accordingly, checking the quality of products & materials, and resolving customer complaints.
- Promotes a professional, service-oriented printing and service operation by answering inquiries concerning United States mail services and regulations, explaining rates, special types, classes of mail, and packaging requirements; advises mail service patrons on the most appropriate category and class of mail to meet their needs.
- Ensures that P&P facilitates the ability of Printing and Postal Services to remain technologically and price competitive by remaining current on new and developing technologies and methods related to services provided; evaluates and recommends innovative technologies, methods, or equipment to leadership and applies those technologies as appropriate.
Shipping Services
In this role you will oversee shipping and fulfillment operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency through:
1. Picking, packing, and labeling orders accurately and promptly.
2. Integration with e-commerce platforms for seamless order processing.
3. Automated systems to reduce manual errors and speed up dispatch
Managing Mailing and Parcel Services
1. Domestic and international mailing of letters, documents, and small parcels.
2. Bulk mailing solutions for large volumes with discounted rates.
3. Secure mailing for sensitive or confidential materials
4. Ensuring customs and tribal, federal, and state shipping compliance
5. Customs documentation preparation (e.g., HS codes, invoices).
6. Duty and tax handling for international shipments.
7. Compliance with postal and trade regulations
Ensuring proper technology and automation
1. Automated systems for order processing and dispatch are in proper working order
2. Providing Real-time tracking for customers and internal monitoring.
3. Developing and producing data analytics to improve performance
Focus on customer service and support by
1. Tracking orders and status updates for customers.
2. Tracking returns and reverse logistics management.sd
3. Ensure proper billing and payment processing for services and shipping costs
If applicable, ensure proper cost management to include
· Carrier rate negotiation for better pricing.
· Bulk and volume discounts for high-volume clients
Ancillary Services
Post and Print also offers the following ancillary services; In this role you will oversee and manage the following ancillary operations:
· Embroidery Services
· Silk Screening
In this role you will:
1. Supervise staff and ensures compliance with procedures and safety protocols
2. Run machines, sewing patches and performing finishing tasks
3. Enter and track production and cost data into shop and/or manual systems
4. Check in/out garments, managing shipping, receiving, and tracking runs; verify qualify
5. Respond to order inquiries and resolving production and cost issues
6. Oversees operation, quality, and efficiencies of silk-screening processes
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Supervises P&P staff including creative and production teams
· Provides training, guidance, and support to ensure staff are set up for success in their roles.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer or other graphic/creative equipment.
- Able to manage stress well.
- May encounter prolonged periods of standing, sitting and/or a combination
- Manual dexterity to perform a variety of computer and creative entries, including cutting, punching, folding, taping, etc.
- Potential working after hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to lift and move up to fifty pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
This position manages and operates in a retail, print shop. This role uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, printing, embroidery, silk screening, and fax machines.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and work hours are Monday through Friday with some nights, weekends and holiday work as required to meet challenging project deadlines.
Travel
· Travel to various locations throughout Thurston County and numerous business locations as needed.
· Occasional travel to workshops, conferences, trainings, corporate meetings, etc.
