Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

Job Description Are you an enthusiastic, results-driven storyteller who loves connecting with people? Champlain College is looking for a dynamic Admissions Counselor to introduce prospective students and families to everything that makes Champlain distinctive. Managing an assigned geographic territory covering Connecticut, Rhode Island, and western Massachusetts, this role owns the full admissions recruitment cycle-from building relationships and generating interest to guiding prospective students through the college search and application process. Key Responsibilities Territory Recruitment & Relationship Building Develop and execute targeted recruitment strategies and activities to meet enrollment goals within the assigned territory Establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships with high school counselors, secondary school faculty, independent educational counselors, and other key partners Represent Champlain College at high school visits, college fairs, community events, information sessions, and other recruitment programs Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Champlain's academic programs and student experience to effectively communicate the College's value Student & Family Engagement Guide and support prospective students and families throughout the college search and enrollment process via phone, email, social media, virtual engagement, and traditional mail Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of on- and off-campus recruitment events and special programs Application Review & Administration Read, evaluate, and make admission recommendations on several hundred applications annually in accordance with College policies and procedures Maintain accurate and timely records of high school visits, recruitment activities, and territory management efforts Participate in departmental projects, initiatives, and other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor's degree required 3+ years of experience in college admissions or sales Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences including students, families, educators, and community partners Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team Proficiency with standard office technology and the ability to learn and effectively use CRM systems and other technology platforms Working Arrangements Full-time, on-campus position based at our main campus in Burlington, VT, with an assigned recruitment territory covering Connecticut, Rhode Island, and western Massachusetts Requires travel and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support high school visits, presentations, college fairs, and community events Extensive travel expected during peak recruitment seasons, particularly fall and spring Compensation & Benefits Annual Salary: $48,000 - $51,000 Comprehensive Benefits Package: Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance with HSA and FSA options Paid Time Off: 16 holidays, 4 weeks of vacation, 2 weeks sick time, and 2 days of personal leave Retirement: 403(b) plan with 3% employer matching contribution Education: Tuition benefits for employees and family members Wellness: Gym discount and Wellness programs with up to $300 annual incentives Welfare: Short-term and long-term disability coverage, plus life insurance Other Perks: Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with counseling services, access to employee discounts and local/national benefit programs Champlain College does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, place of birth, ancestry, religion, age, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, veteran or military service status, HIV -positive status, qualified disability, or on the basis of any other status protected by law, and does not discriminate in the administration of its education and admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, employment practices or co-curricular and other College-administered programs.
