HVAC Lab Technician

HVAC Lab Technician Location: Charlotte, NC Job Type: Contract Pay: $27.50/hr Schedule: 1st Shift, 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday - Friday + Occasional OT Responsibilities Execute comprehensive chiller testing, including setup, calibration, and operation of water- and air-cooled systems Operate, inspect, and maintain chillers, test setups, and laboratory equipment Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues Calibrate lab instruments for pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical measurements Lead test cycles, tune control loops, and drive test efficiency Collaborate with cross-functional teams; coach and mentor team members on lab protocols and results interpretation Ensure lab safety and compliance with EHS policies; champion 5S best practices Proactively report equipment failures and support preventive maintenance to maximize lab uptime Generate test reports, document results, and apply advanced measurement techniques Required Skills and Experience Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting commercial chillers Deep knowledge of water-cooled and air-cooled chiller systems Proficient with chiller control systems (Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, etc.) Skilled with 460-3-60 electrical equipment, VFDs, pumps, and boilers Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to read advanced electrical and refrigeration schematics Knowledge of closed-loop control systems, loop tuning, and system stability High School Diploma, GED, Technical/Business School Certificate, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship #J-18808-Ljbffr
