Job Description:

Join the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) as a Systems Administrator (ISS6) – 8 month Job Rotation or Limited Duration position.

This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on or before June 30, 2027 . Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service.

We may also fill this position as a rotational assignment open to current State of Oregon employees. Rotation candidates are required to meet the position’s minimum qualifications. You must have your manager's approval before applying for this assignment.

JOB ROTATION OPPORTUNITY

This opportunity is open to current State of Oregon employees interested in a job rotation assignment. The assignment is expected to last at least eight (8) months ending June 30th, 2027 and is intended to accelerate ODA's Data Center Modernization and Mac to Windows Transition projects. At the conclusion of the assignment, the employee is expected to return to their home agency unless otherwise arranged. You must submit an approval from your current manager in your application materials to be considered for this rotation.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Administer and support ODA's Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, and enterprise infrastructure.

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot systems to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing technology services.

• Manage identity, access, endpoint management, and security solutions across the agency.

• Partner with Enterprise Information Services (EIS), vendors, and project teams to deliver infrastructure improvements and technology modernization projects.

• Document systems and procedures while providing technical guidance and support to IT staff and agency users.

Success in this role requires the ability to coordinate technical work through vendors, managed service providers, and statewide technology partners while maintaining accountability for outcomes.

The Systems Administrator (ISS6), is a rotational full-time position located in Salem, Oregon. This position is a hybrid position and you will be expected to report to the Salem headquarters as needed.

• Experience supporting and administering enterprise infrastructure, including cloud-hosted systems, servers, identity services, and business applications.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and modern endpoint management solutions.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, evaluate options, and implement sustainable solutions.

• Experience administering identity and access management solutions and applying security best practices.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Ability to build productive working relationships with users, vendors, managed service providers, and technology partners.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

The minimum qualifications for this position are five (5) years of experience administering computer networks, servers, and business systems OR three (3) years of experience administering computer networks, servers, and business systems and an associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field OR a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field AND one (1) year of experience administering computer networks, servers, and business systems.
