Grinder Production A - 1st Shift (DSC) Job Number 341605 Job Description Sets up and operates internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders for production, experimental, and tool work. Performs difficult grinding work on any type of grinder. Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours and threads. Sets up truing devices on thread grinding for various types and forms of threads, selecting proper speeds, feeds, and wheels. Holds work to required tolerances with exacting setups requiring firm, accurately set fixtures, rests, or blocks. Responsibilities Set up and operate internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders. Perform any type of difficult grinding work on all grinder types. Grind steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours and threads. Set up truing devices on thread grinding, selecting proper speeds, feeds, and wheels. Hold work to required tolerances; ensure setups are exacting and fixtures are accurately set. Tools & Equipment Used All types of grinders, machinists’ hand tools, precision measuring instruments. Experience & Other Requirements Three years of production grinding experience, including setup. This position requires the use of information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
