Lab Technician I (Microbiology) Thu - Mon Shift schedule: Thursday through Monday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Our Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking an entry‑level Microbiology Lab Technician to join the team. The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS’s analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment. Job Functions After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’s analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies Perform routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment May assist with validation and MDL studies. Input and maintain technical information as needed to support laboratory functions/operations. Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable. Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications High school diploma (Required) Associate’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or similar scientific discipline (Strongly preferred) 1-2 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Strongly preferred) Advanced English language skills (Required) Strong mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills (Required) Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required) Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $20 - $22 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
