I. Position Information: Job Title: Programs Driver II Non-Exempt X Program/Dept. Transportation/Operations Exempt Location: New Hope, MN Created: April 2026 Manager: Operations Manager- Transportation Last Edited April 2026 This is a full-time non-exempt position with a competitive benefits package. The hiring range for this position is $24-$26 on an hourly basis.
Organization Overview The Food Group (TFG) is a local food equity nonprofit. For more than 45 years we have worked to provide nutritious food to those who need it most in our community. We work at the intersection of food access, equity, and nutrition issues related to food and hunger in Minnesota. We work across the food system and our programs include hunger relief, affordable grocery, and a land-based education farm. Hunger Solutions MN operates as the advocacy branch of The Food Group. Our culture and environment can be described as high-trust, cooperative, collaborative, open, and fun. We are team of approximately 60 people with three locations in New Hope, St. Paul, and Marine on St. Croix.

Job Summary: The Program Driver II plays a key role in supporting transportation operations across multiple programs, ensuring safe, timely, and efficient delivery of food and materials throughout the community. This role requires flexibility, strong driving skills, and the ability to operate a variety of vehicles including box trucks and program buses. The ideal candidate is an experienced and dependable commercial driver who is adaptable, safety-focused, and comfortable working across multiple programs and environments. They bring strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a commitment to community service. This position supports both transportation and on-site program operations, helping ensure smooth, reliable service delivery. III. Core Job Functions: A. Transportation Operations & Multi-Program Support
Must have ability to drive a bus or truck during all types of weather conditions and to park and back up to fit into parking spaces as needed. Must be able to frequently go up and down stairs. Must have ability to sit in a bus or truck for up to two hours at a time and utilize various office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, and cash register) on a continual basis.

Transportation Operations & Multi-Program Support
- Operate commercial vehicles safely across multiple programs, including box trucks and buses.
- Ensure accurate, timely deliveries while complying with DOT regulations and organizational safety standards.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload food and materials while maintaining quality and safety.

- Assist with setup, breakdown, and restocking at program sites and distribution events.
- Provide excellent customer service to program participants, partners, and volunteers.
- Support warehouse operations including staging deliveries, inventory handling, and maintaining organization.
- Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a commercial driver
- Experience in logistics, delivery, or route-based operations preferred
- Familiarity with multi-stop routes or nonprofit distribution environments a plus
- Retail or customer service experience strongly preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment background screening
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

- Must be able to work effectively in an organization that has recognized its own issues related to equity and is actively working to reflect on the communities it serves
- Demonstrated commitment to hunger relief focused on health, nutrition, and equity
- Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and transportation procedures
- Ability to operate multiple vehicle types with confidence and competence
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing routes, schedules, and program needs
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Basic technology skills (tablets, routing tools, POS systems)
- Strong customer service orientation and professionalism
- License and Certificates
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement
- Driving record that meets organizational and insurance requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Certification
