Shift Gears Physical Therapy Services is actively seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Orthopedic unit in Cohoes, New York. This full-time position requires a dedicated individual who is eager to contribute to the rehabilitation and recovery of our patients. You will be an essential part of our healthcare team, directly assisting a licensed Physical Therapist in the implementation of tailored treatment plans.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite at a contemporary hospital setting, where you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and other therapists. Our orthopedic unit is equipped with the latest rehabilitation technologies and treatment modalities, creating an optimal space for both patients and staff. Enjoy a structured work schedule from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation and modification of individualized treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring that therapeutic goals are met effectively.
• Provide hands-on therapy to patients, utilizing therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques to enhance mobility and functional ability.
• Regularly monitor and document patient progress in accordance with treatment protocols; adjust interventions as necessary to maximize patient outcomes.
• Educate patients about proper exercise techniques, safety measures, and the importance of adherence to their treatment plans to foster independence in managing their condition.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, participating in regular case discussions to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records through appropriate documentation platforms, adhering to both hospital policies and legal standards.

Qualifications

• A completed Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on Physical Therapy, along with current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the State of New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an orthopedic setting, where you have honed your skills in patient assessment and treatment delivery.
• Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology as they relate to rehabilitation sciences.
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate effective interactions with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Preferred Experience

• Prior exposure to electronic health record (EHR) systems, enhancing the efficiency of patient documentation and management.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 50,000 to 70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
