Overview Title: Loan Assistant Agency: Paul D. Camp Community College Location: Franklin (City) - 620 FLSA: Nonexempt Hiring Range: $20.02 - $22.00 hr Full Time or Part Time: Part Time Job Description: Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There is also a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well. Responsibilities Customer Service responsibilities—Provide excellent customer service in person and using appropriate technology such as telephone, email, Zoom meetings, etc. Loan Assistance – Provide backup to Loan Officer (located on Suffolk campus) to provide point of contact on Franklin campus for students. Financial Aid Advising—providing assistance to students, working closely with other departments to ensure a seamless student experience. Coordinate Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program on Franklin Campus—Manage student employment program from posting job descriptions to reconciling funds. File Maintenance—Create and maintain files and spreadsheets to track students. Use scanning software to manage documents. Administer Funds—Analyze financial aid problems and take corrective action. Authorize, disburse, and assist with reconciliation of loan, grant and scholarship. Other Duties—Travel and other duties, as assigned Wage position note: This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits. Minimum Qualifications Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g. MS Office Suite). Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, while maintaining confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work and make decisions under pressure, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, while maintaining composure. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, adapting quickly and easily to competing deadlines. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including public speaking. Experience maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date client files and records. Demonstrated ability to establish goals and priorities and make decisions based on established business processes. Experience in interpreting and applying government regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to assist students during busy peak periods. Familiarity with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Additional Considerations Work experience in higher education areas such as financial aid, academic/career coaching, or advising. Experience using tools such as EAB Navigate, PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS), and Canvas. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs, Direct Loans in particular. Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of disadvantaged and first-generation students. Experience working with military or veterans populations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
