Job Overview Title: PRN Speech Therapist State Role Title: Therapist III Pay Band: 5 Hiring Range: $27.76 - $56.65 Agency: Dept of Veterans Services Location: Davis & McDaniel Vet Care Ctr Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Responsibilities Establish skilled speech treatment plans for residents and conduct speech services such as symbolic language, dysphasia, aphasia, voice treatment, and assistive device communication after the plans are made. Collaborate with other IDT members to design integrated plans and document supporting evidence. Identify goals, objectives, and plans for all patients receiving speech therapy services within established time frames, ensuring assessments are completed timely and cost information forwarded appropriately, and participate actively in clinics, meetings, and system communications to facilitate changes and resolve problems. Provide direction and training for speech-related services performed by non-speech staff, including in-service training on departmental topics, completing mandatory training on schedule, and assisting with additional assigned activities. Review medical records to gather relevant assessment data, interview clients, staff, and families, and complete initial evaluations and subsequent re-certifications as needed. Attend and conduct departmental meetings, complete ancillary documentation and communications, follow all safety rules and regulations, initiate corrective actions when violations occur, maintain a clean and safe environment, recommend equipment purchases, serve on committees as directed, supervise CFY candidates per ASHA regulations, and perform all other duties assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation. Qualifications Knowledge of assessment and treatment in general speech therapy and developmental disabilities, standards of practice at ICF/MRs, and effective resource management principles. Skilled in verbal and written communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Ability to lead and coordinate work of the therapy department and cross-functional departments as needed. Experience with neurologically involved, developmentally disabled patients is beneficial. Prior professional speech therapy experience in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting is desired. #J-18808-Ljbffr
