Job Overview

Seeking a Master’s Level Primary Therapist to join our dynamic outpatient behavioral health team in Warwick, RI. The ideal candidate is a compassionate and motivated clinician skilled in providing both individual and group therapy to adults experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, supportive environment where clinical integrity and quality care come first. The Primary Therapist will work closely with our multidisciplinary treatment team to provide evidence-based interventions, develop individualized treatment plans, and help clients achieve meaningful, lasting recovery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions consistent with each client’s treatment plan.
• Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and collaborate with clients to establish measurable treatment goals.
• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when clinically indicated.
• Facilitate group sessions focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, coping skills, and trauma-informed recovery.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR (KIPU) in compliance with BHDDH and Joint Commission standards.
• Collaborate with case management, nursing, medical, and peer support staff to coordinate holistic care.
• Participate in clinical meetings, supervision, and case reviews to support quality assurance and client outcomes.
• Uphold ethical standards and maintain client confidentiality in all aspects of care.
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in behavioral health treatment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Experience in outpatient mental health and/or substance use treatment preferred.
• Strong clinical documentation and EMR proficiency (experience with KIPU a plus).
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and maintain professional boundaries.
