Monday – Friday daytime work hours Key Responsibilities for Outpatient Behavioral Health Nurse Patient Triage: Collecting patient data, identifying symptoms, and monitoring for side effects to treatments. Medication Administration: Administering psychiatric medications and educating patients on potential side effects. Assisting prescribers with obtaining prior authorizations. Care Collaboration: Collaborating with psychiatric providers, therapists, and case managers to contribute to the development of treatment plans. Crisis Intervention: Responding to urgent patient needs and assisting with crisis de‑escalation. Patient Education & Counseling: Providing psychoeducation regarding symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments. Documentation & Compliance: Maintaining timely, accurate, HIPAA‑compliant electronic health records. Requirements Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. The ideal candidate will aspire to move into a management role within 2 years providing administrative oversight and supervising 2 other nurses. Experience: Previous clinical experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting is required. Skills: Must be able to administer psychiatric medications, implement crisis management techniques, and apply therapeutic communication. Knowledge: Must have working knowledge of mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and their impact on functioning and behavior. Familiar with psychotropic medications, their effects, side effects, and appropriate dosing. Attributes: Empathy, patience, flexibility, strong communicator, and a team player. CPR/First Aid certification is up‑to‑date within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter. Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
