Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a special education teacher working in a self-contained classroom supporting learners with mild disabilities. This is a full-time, contract opportunity spanning 35 hours each week through December 2026. You'll be joining a dedicated team focused on creating an inclusive, supportive educational environment.

Position Highlights:

Lead a self-contained classroom for students with mild disabilities in a middle school setting
Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt instruction to address students’ unique needs
Foster a safe, positive classroom culture that encourages engagement, growth, and student confidence
Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to ensure academic and social-emotional growth
Maintain thorough documentation and regularly communicate progress with families and multidisciplinary teams
Participate actively in professional development opportunities and staff meetings

Qualifications:

Hold an active Indiana teaching license in special education (must provide proof of licensure upon application)
Previous experience teaching or student teaching in a special education environment, preferably at the middle school level
Proven ability to work effectively with students with mild disabilities
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Organized, adaptable, and passionate about making a difference for all learners
