Lead Software Engineer

Technical LeadThe Technical Lead is responsible for the overall design, implementation and quality of the code the team produces across one or more projects. The Technical Lead partners with the IT leadership, architecture, and development staff to establish vision, strategy and road maps that align with business strategies and organizational priorities. The Technical Lead must collaborate with peers and leadership to leverage knowledge and solutions across the organization.At this time, we are not considering applicants who require employment authorization sponsorship as a condition of eligibility for employment with the Company or at any point during the term of their employment. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship by the Company.The Technical Lead works with:Delivery leads to staff projects with associates, contractors, and/or third party teamsProject managers on a plan and estimatesArchitecture and delivery leads on solution blueprintsQA and delivery leads on functional testing, integration testing, performance testing and to triage defectsService introduction on hand-off to application operations teamJob Responsibilities:The Technical Lead of Application Development is a position within a development group focused on leading the delivery of best in class systems to support AutoNation's business lines, across all channels. These include customer and associate facing applications built on AWS using Microservices Architecture and other AWS components that integrate with existing on-prem AutoNation systems and databases.Qualifications:8+ years experience in java software development demonstrating increasing levels of responsibilityExperience leading a team of 3 or more software developersBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experienceExperience producing solution designs for large-scale, highly available, mission-critical systemsProficient in designing, creating and consuming Web Services (REST, JSON, OAuth), multi-tier or microservice applications in Java and large scale database applicationsStrong experience in SQL and data modelingDemonstrate sound architecture skills and broad experience designing applicationsAbility to communicate complex technical design concepts and translate into non-technical business solutionsAble to communicate well with all levels in the organization, and must be comfortable as a primary contact to internal and external customersExcellent oral and written communication skillsExperience in Agile, Waterfall and other software development methodologiesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with developing within a Cloud environment with good knowledge of cloud infrastructure like AWS is a plus.Experience with ecommerce, retail, automotive, and financing is a plusThe anticipated base salary for this role is 130,000.00 - 170,000.00 annually.
