DESCRIPTION

This Pharmacy Tech III position supports the Owen clinic in a variety of ways. The position is focused on the coordination of long-acting injectable medications for HIV prevention (PrEP) and HIV treatment supplied to patients both through our UCSD pharmacies but also via medical benefit billing. Responsibilities include prior authorization support, patient assistance program enrollments, inventory management, patient tracking, patient scheduling, benefit verification, and patient retention. The Pharmacy Tech III works directly with the clinical pharmacists at the Owen clinic to optimize medication delivery for HIV prevention and treatment. The position also provides prior authorization support for all other medications prescribed at Owen clinic including overcoming medication acquisition challenges, and serves as a backup and assistance for our other Pharmacy Tech III positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

• Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

• Minimum of Five (5) years of retail or outpatient clinic experience is required.

• Experience in project management/system responsibility (e.g. Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst); OR is a Pharmacy School graduate; OR expanded responsibilities over several areas OR possess a Pharmacy Intern License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with Epic and/or Willow Ambulatory.

• Experience with pharmacy and medical benefit prior authorizations.

• Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.

• Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,756 - $84,209 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.45 - $40.33
