In return, we'll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary We are seeking a Facility Supervisor to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Seattle, Washington. The Facility Supervisor provides direct supervision of daily activities of Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs (CRADL) animal facilities. They will be responsible for the supervision and training for employees in the Animal Care & support series.They maintain performance levels consistent with and according to company standards, the CRADL organization and client requirements. They prioritize and complete on-going tasks independently following established policies and guidelines. They will liaise with clients to ensure satisfaction with technician performance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. Supervise, directly and through others, the daily activities of employee conducting husbandry and support services in the facility. Responsible for personnel management activities such as: mentorship, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, terminations, etc.), training & development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions, delivering annual performance and salary reviews. Plan, create, assign and monitor work schedules for employee including weekend, holiday and on-call coverage to ensure optimal team performance. Ensure of team to match needs of organization as priorities change. Monitor and analyze the performance of employees to ensure highest level of animal care and support, timely reporting of health concerns, and client needs. In coordination with Human Resources representative, conduct interviews, assist in recruitment efforts, investigate personnel problems, and respond to employees in accordance with company policies and procedures. Communicate with clients, listen to feedback/concerns and respond promptly and professionally, demonstrating strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and ensure that client service operations run smoothly. Serve key clients and assist in driving sales by presenting site capabilities through providing tours and competency assessments. Serve as a model to CRADL employees as it relates to CRL Core Values (CARE, LEAD, OWN, COLLABORATE). Provide mentorship, leadership and motivation to all CRADL personnel. Monitor and document task completion and deviations from defined KPI's and submit monthly to CRADL management in a timely fashion to support contract deliverables. Participate in periodic meetings with CRL Operations employees to keep them informed of current and future projects, policies and procedures.Investigate animal welfare concerns as directed by the Animal Welfare Team or Attending Veterinarian. Propose and deliver appropriate mitigations to active concerns while preventing future recurrences, solicit relevant information from employee and researchers to accurately assess and Effectively promote animal welfare. Provide animal husbandry backup on animal welfare checks/receiving, cage changing, and facility support as required. Ability to provide technical backup on dosing, injections, collections as needed. Monitor acquisition, receipt, storage and issue of supplies and animals. Generate work orders and ensure documentation of all corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures. Follow up to ensure timely resolution to issues and provide update to management when resolved. Provide timely, concise and effective communication regarding all facility utilities, infrastructure, process equipment, and supply chain and housing system issues to management. Inspect animal housing systems to ensure proper setup and function. Coordinate the movement of animals throughout the facility and assign housing locations for receipt of new animals. Participate in the development of projections for equipment, supplies and personnel needed to effectively operate the research facilities. Participate in the development and implementation of CRADL organization and site-specific policies and SOPs. Supervise the use of all space throughout the facility (animal housing, procedural, service, and storage areas) and works with the Manager in assigning the space to clients. . Perform CRADL equipment asset management and tracking inventory for reporting purposes. Place & receive orders to maintain appropriate levels of inventory of supplies including bedding, feed, cleaning materials and husbandry supplies. Conduct frequent quality assurance inspections of all animal holding and support facilities to determine the degree to which established levels of animal health, facilities condition, sanitation levels, environmental parameters and security are being met/exceeded. Conduct frequent quality assurance inspections to verify that employees are adhering to established room/cage/rack sanitation schedules. Oversee adherence to all CRADL organizational and site operational procedures and all required documentation related to the department. Supervise record maintenance. Generate and submit internal and external reports in the required formats and timeframes, and report to management on operations related issues. Participate in all IACUC semi-annual activities including follow-up on any findings for the site and the organization. Act as subject matter expert in all animal husbandry and services. Conduct and participate in Train the trainer sessions. Identify employee training needs and ensure necessary training is conducted and competence for duties is achieved. Attend and participate in on-the-job and classroom training sessions and complete all assigned computer-based safety and professional development training by predetermined due dates. Deliver consistent practice of site and personnel safety policies, procedures and oversee hazardous work in partnership with EH&S Specialists. Maintain required attendance level and adherence to work schedule in accordance with required employee levels to ensure that assigned duties are completed. Perform all other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required move about inside the facility, communicate, and operate a computer. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk;use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionallyrequired to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up 100 pounds with assistance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Minimum of four (4) years experience in a laboratory animal facility of which two (2) years is supervisory or lead technician experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal science or life sciences fields. Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification from AALAS or Certified Supervisor (CS) certification from ICPM. The pay range for this position is $85,000K - $95,000K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
