Mechanical Design EngineerThe Mechanical Engineering Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and delivery of systems, structures, and components used in Holtec's spent nuclear fuel storage, transportation, and advanced nuclear technologies programs. Based at Holtec's Corporate Engineering Center in Camden, NJ, this role develops and reviews engineering designs, analyses, specifications, and fabrication drawings while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, quality requirements, and project schedules. The position works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing partners, business development personnel, and global design resources to support projects from concept through fabrication, testing, and implementation. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative solutions supporting the nuclear power industry and Holtec's SMR development initiatives.Location: Camden, NJ (On-site)Primary Responsibilities:Coordinate and perform integrated product development and engineering processes to fulfill project requirements and meet target datesReview product designs for compliance with engineering principles, contract requirements, and applicable standardsAuthor and review design changes, specifications, analyses, and drawingsPrepare and review conceptual equipment drawings using input from various technical disciplinesPrepare and review detailed fabrication drawings for use by manufacturers fabricating Holtec equipmentPrepare purchase and technical specifications and operations and maintenance manuals for the company's product lineProvide technical resolutions for manufacturing deviations requested by fabricatorsEnsure compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on-time deliveryTravel up to 20%Requirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year universityMinimum of 5 years of experience in a design or manufacturing environmentCapability and willingness to assume full responsibility for project tasksExcellent attention to detail and ability to produce error-free documentsExcellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of engineering design practices and principles, including interference checks, tolerance stack-ups, fits, and GD&TExperience using industry codes to develop equipment designsExperience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawingsAbility to manage multiple tasks and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervisionMinimum of three years of experience using CAD software to create detailed equipment package drawingsPreferred Qualifications:Experience designing equipment for the nuclear and/or power generation industryUnderstanding of the design and manufacturing processes for steel structures and pressure vesselsKnowledge, application, and understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel CodesKnowledge, application, and understanding of AISC codesKnowledge, application, and understanding of AWS codesKnowledge and understanding of ASME Y14.5 standardsExperience preparing P&IDs, PFDs, and general arrangement drawings for skid-mounted or permanent equipment packagesExperience installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting process equipment in a manufacturing or power plant environmentExperience preparing operating and maintenance manuals for process equipmentFormal training in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorksUnderstanding of welding symbols and practicesCompensation: Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $100,000 to $115,000Benefits: Industry-leading medical, dental, and vision coverage with a generous employer premium contribution and Day 1 eligibility!
