Accounting Manager

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit in the Portland area, needs an experienced Accounting Manager for an ongoing temporary opportunity. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys staying close to the numbers, taking ownership of the close, and being a trusted accounting resource to leadership. As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for: Reviewing account activity and providing oversight across the accounting function Completing month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations Preparing financial statements and monthly reporting for leadership Monitoring budget activity and explaining revenue and expense variances Supporting audit preparation and responding to auditor requests Reviewing payroll, banking activity, and fund transfers Providing guidance on accounting questions, internal controls, and special projects This position is approximately 20 to 25 hours per week, offers flexibility, and will be completed in the organization’s Portland-area office. You will work alongside a knowledgeable accounting professional and partner closely with an approachable leadership team that values collaboration. To be considered for this position, you should have: Bachelor's degree in Accounting Nonprofit accounting experience Strong month-end close, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience QuickBooks experience Intermediate Excel skills The confidence to work independently while also being a collaborative and supportive partner This is an opportunity to bring your accounting expertise to an organization doing meaningful work in the community.
