Archivist - Music and Entertainment Collections

Job Description Archivists are at the heart of the information work that fuels our projects. With care and respect, this role applies Library and Information Science (LIS) best practices to arrange, preserve, and describe sensitive archival materials. Working as part of a collaborative team, the Archivist implements strategic processing plans, provides cataloging and discovery services, addresses preservation needs, and shares expertise across departments. This role also contributes to curatorial efforts by uncovering stories and meaningful discoveries within client collections. The successful candidate understands archival best practices and knows how to adapt them to a fast-paced, collaborative, and unique environment. They are dependable, flexible, creative, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of discretion and confidentiality. Responsibilities Understand and implement archival and cataloging strategies tailored to each client. Conduct incoming and outgoing collection inventories. Scan and photograph two- and three-dimensional artifacts in preparation for ingest. Rehouse photographs, textiles, paper records, audiovisual media, and three-dimensional objects using archival best practices. Process and arrange multi-format archival collections while collaborating with leadership to develop processing plans. Catalog and describe artifacts using Inveniem\'s internal standards and systems. Collaborate with IT to organize, preserve, and manage digital assets. Occasionally, Archivists will serve as project leads by: Understanding and documenting client information needs. Developing processing plans with leadership that align with project timelines and priorities. Discovering stories and significant content within collections that support curatorial and creative initiatives. Working closely with Product Managers, Vault Operations, and other cross-functional teams to meet project goals. Providing reference services for assigned collections. Tracking daily work to support efficient workflows across departments. Helping define and document Inveniem-specific archival processes alongside the Head of Archives and senior archivists. Maintaining strict confidentiality of client assets and company operations. Traveling occasionally within the region as needed. Required Qualifications Master\'s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program or a bachelor\'s degree plus 2–3 years of relevant archival experience. Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive or restricted materials. Exceptional attention to detail. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Passion for music, popular culture, entertainment, and history. Desire to continually learn and expand professional knowledge. Hands-on experience processing physical archival collections or equivalent coursework. Basic understanding of archival preservation techniques and best practices. Experience cataloging collections using archival or library standards and metadata schema, or equivalent coursework. Comfortable learning new technologies and navigating digital tools such as Microsoft 365, Airtable, and Slack. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity operating scanners to capture high-resolution images. Ability to work collaboratively with archivists and professionals across multiple disciplines. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to lift and move archival boxes and materials and spend extended periods standing or sitting while working with collections. Preferred Qualifications Experience conducting research that supports creative storytelling and curation. Experience using professional photographic equipment to create high-quality artifact images. Compensation Salary range: $55,000–$57,000 annually , depending on qualifications and experience.
