As a key partner to operations leadership, you will help create a positive driver experience by building trust, fostering communication, and providing ongoing support throughout the driver lifecycle. Your ability to develop strong relationships, address concerns, and promote driver success will directly contribute to retention, operational excellence, and long-term workforce stability.

What You'll Do as a Driver Relationship Manager:

Driver Engagement & Relationship Management

• Serve as a primary point of contact and trusted resource for drivers throughout their journey with the company.
• Build strong, positive relationships with both new and experienced drivers.
• Conduct regular check-ins to assess driver satisfaction, address concerns, and provide support.
• Partner with drivers to identify opportunities for professional growth and long-term success.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and driver-focused culture.
• Facilitate open communication between drivers, management, and operational teams.

Driver Onboarding & Integration

• Guide new drivers through the onboarding process and ensure a welcoming experience.
• Coordinate onboarding activities, documentation, orientation scheduling, and driver introductions.
• Partner with operations and training teams to support successful transitions into active service.
• Maintain communication with newly onboarded drivers to provide support and encouragement.
• Ensure drivers understand company expectations, available resources, and growth opportunities.
• Help create a seamless and engaging onboarding experience.

Driver Retention & Satisfaction

• Lead driver retention efforts focused on strengthening engagement and reducing turnover.
• Proactively identify and address driver concerns before they become larger issues.
• Gather feedback from drivers and recommend improvements to programs, policies, and processes.
• Support recognition programs that celebrate safety, professionalism, performance, and service excellence.
• Collaborate with leadership to implement initiatives that enhance driver satisfaction and loyalty.
• Assist in developing programs that support long-term driver retention and workforce stability.

Communication & Support

• Communicate company updates, policy changes, and operational information clearly and effectively.
• Assist drivers in navigating company resources and support systems.
• Respond promptly and professionally to driver questions and concerns.
• Work collaboratively with dispatch, operations, recruiting, and leadership teams to resolve issues.
• Advocate for driver needs while supporting organizational goals and business objectives.
• Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and exceptional service.

Reporting & Workforce Insights

• Track driver engagement, onboarding progress, retention trends, and satisfaction metrics.
• Maintain accurate records related to driver interactions and support activities.
• Prepare reports and provide leadership with updates on driver engagement efforts.
• Identify trends and opportunities to improve the overall driver experience.
• Support workforce planning initiatives through data analysis and feedback collection.
• Recommend process improvements that strengthen driver relationships and operational effectiveness.

Collaboration & Leadership Support

• Partner closely with operations leaders, dispatch teams, training staff, and executive leadership.
• Build relationships with community organizations, industry partners, and workforce development groups.
• Support programs designed to strengthen driver engagement and company culture.
• Share insights and best practices that improve communication, retention, and driver satisfaction.
• Serve as a valued resource for drivers, managers, and leadership teams.
• Assist with special projects and initiatives that support organizational growth.

Qualifications of a Driver Relationship Manager:

• Experience in employee relations, transportation, driver management, customer service, recruiting, human resources, operations, or a related field preferred.
• Experience working with CDL or non-CDL drivers is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to establish trust and maintain positive working relationships.
• Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
