Account Executive, Boiler & Machinery Underwriter

What Is the Opportunity? The Boiler & Machinery (Equipment Breakdown) Business Center underwrites and negotiates low to mid‑size Boiler & Machinery new and renewal business accounts for assigned agents, brokers, client companies, and/or internal business unit partners. The Account Executive (AE) is responsible for account profitability, growth, and retention in line with Travelers underwriting and marketing strategies, and in coordination with Boiler & Machinery and BoilerRe Account Executives. What Will You Do? Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. Underwrite and negotiate routine and more complex accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability by performing underwriting analysis while following compliance guidelines. Build and maintain relationships with internal partners across the business unit to support market penetration and identify cross‑selling opportunities. Engage external partners to deliver seamless underwriting experiences and solutions. Identify and capture new business opportunities through consultative marketing and sales skills. Support the execution of agency, region, and group sales plans. Assist in the training and mentoring of less‑experienced Account Executives. Participate in individual or collaborative project work and other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor’s degree. Three to five years of relevant underwriting experience, including Boiler & Machinery (Equipment Breakdown). Strong knowledge of Boiler & Machinery products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market. Critical thinking skills to identify and analyze routine underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges. Experience with automation platforms, management information tools, rating systems, and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Organization and time‑management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Sales and negotiation skills. Collaboration skills to develop relationships within the enterprise and externally. Strong communication, awareness, and influence skills in interpersonal and group contexts, as well as effective written communication. CPCU designation. Must Haves Two years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance roles. What Is in It for You?
