Responsibilities Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring Systems Design Engineers to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products. Other notes: Multiple openings. Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field. Experience: Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: N/A. Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience. Skills may be gained concurrently. Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

1. Performing hardware verification;
2. CPU architecture, SOC, or system architecture;
3. Functional verification of microprocessors;
4. Design flows and methodologies used for chip verification;
5. Unix or Linux environments;
6. OS kernel and systems development;
7. Server systems and OS development;
8. Virtualization;
9. Software debugging using macOS, Linux, or Unix; and
10. Git.

Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship. Skills may be gained concurrently.
