Senior Accountant

Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations Research and resolve reconciling items Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and properly documented Analyze accounts receivable balances and aging trends Investigate unapplied cash, aged balances, and customer account discrepancies Partner with business stakeholders to resolve complex receivable-related matters Monitor and support cash application and reconciliation activities Support accounting for premiums, commissions, ceded activity, and other insurance-related transactions Assist with operational accounting activities related to programs, settlements, and other complex transactions Prepare audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation Respond to internal and external audit requests Assist with SOX, control, and compliance-related activities Maintain documentation supporting key accounting processes and controls Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort Assist in developing standardized procedures and documentation Participate in system implementations, process enhancements, and special projects Leverage Excel and reporting tools to automate recurring tasks and analyses Partner with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Billing, Claims, and other functional teams Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff when appropriate Contribute to accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service Perform other duties as assigned Requirements 3+ years accounting experience Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required Experience in operational accounting close work Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proven ability to collaborate and work as part of a team Good working knowledge of US GAAP accounting Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables Working knowledge of General Ledger Systems such as Workday preferred but not required Insurance experience is a plus Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Unable to sponsor or take over work authorization sponsorship now or in the future Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in accounting processes, including month-end and year-end close activities, account reconciliations, and compliance with US GAAP.
