Become familiar with new languages and understand the syntax.Become familiar with execution environmentsInterview client technical team members to understand the operation and maintenance of a legacy systemParse and analyse legacy code platforms (like COBOL, RPG, Natural, etc.) .Parse and analyse legacy data platforms (like IMS, VSAM, DB2, Adabas)Develop scripts (e.g. Ruby, Perl, Bash, Python, etc.) to automatically analyse legacy code patterns – identify data access, program call, business logic, and boundary assets like screens and reports. Document System Interfaces and related legacy program flow; Estimate work effortProven experience with the following software tools:Regex pattern matchingRuby programming languageJava J2EE and Hibernate SVN source repositoryMYSQLApache TomcatVirtualBox or VMWareFamiliarity with compiler design, grammars and parsersExperience with scripting languagesExcellent written and oral communication skills in EnglishAbility to work well with clients, stakeholders and end users Proven experience with the following software tools:Regex pattern matchingRuby programming languageJava J2EE and Hibernate SVN source repositoryMYSQLApache TomcatVirtualBox or VMWareFamiliarity with compiler design, grammars and parsersExperience with scripting languagesExcellent written and oral communication skills in EnglishAbility to work well with clients, stakeholders and end users Experience within a software development project team (working with project manager, business analysts, technical architects, developers, testers, etc.)At least five years of experience in the software industry in a developer / analyst role. At least two years of experience in a legacy platform as a developer.
