JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Love events, communication, and helping programs run smoothly? The Center for Acoustics and Vibration (College of Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University) is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented part-time team member to support our seminar series and website throughout the academic year.

In this role, you’ll help us deliver a smooth, welcoming seminar experience—from promotion to day-of logistics—working closely with the Director of the Center for Acoustics and Vibration.

• Coordinate bi-weekly seminars during the academic year (arrive early, set up basic A/V, serve as the on-site point person, and help with clean-up)
• Set up Zoom webinars and support hybrid/virtual speaker events
• Create and post event promotions (website posts, email announcements/reminders, and other channels as needed)
• Post event recordings to the website after each event

Timing, hours, and pay: During the academic year, seminars are often weekly, with an estimated commitment of about 6 hours per week . Pay rate: starts at $18/hour.

Who you are: You’re organized, reliable, and comfortable communicating with a wide range of people. You can write clear messages, stay on top of details, and help events run smoothly.

• Strong communication skills (email writing and short promotional copy)
• Comfort using Zoom and learning basic website posting workflows
• Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
• Comfortable with on-site logistics and basic A/V setup (training/backup support available)

About us: The Center for Acoustics and Vibration is part of the College of Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University . As availability allows, there may also be opportunities for additional hours supporting other Center activities.
