Buyer I or II - Commercial & Industrial

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a Buyer I or II that will be responsible for working with project teams and suppliers to purchase materials, supplies, equipment and services. The primary focus of material procurement includes consumables, indirect materials, and on-site services.

  This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Develop relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, and select suppliers
• Purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification

requirements, and other factors

• Create and maintain catalogs for each operating group or project that is supported
• Propose purchase transactions that higher authority approve prior to final action and arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers
• Track order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams along with entering purchase orders and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis
• Train project teams to effectively utilize procurement system

QUALIFICATIONS  

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
• Current driver’s license
• Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
• Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills
• Strong customer service and analytical skills
• Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback

Buyer I

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  
• Minimum of two year’s relevant experience  
• The base pay range for this role is $66,400 - $89,700

Buyer II

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  
• Minimum 4 years of experience relevant experience
• The base pay range for this role is $72,900 - $109,400 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
