What We Offer: The County of Ventura offers an attractive compensation and benefits package. In addition to base salary, employees in this position receive the following: Educational Incentive – 2.5% for an associate degree, 3.5% for a bachelor’s degree, or 5% for a graduate degree not required for the classification. Annual Leave Redemption – ability to "cash in" or redeem up to 100 hours of Annual Leave per year. Earn 208 hours per year, increasing to 288 hours after 5 years of service. Deferred Compensation – eligibility to participate in the County's 401(k) Shared Savings Plan and/or the Section 457 Plan, with up to a 3% match on 401(k) contributions. Responsibilities: Oversee and direct planning, scheduling, and tracking activities of multiple organizational functions related to architectural designs, permits, and administrative projects. Prepare and submit Notices of Impending Development (NOID) and Public Works Plan (PWP) Amendments in compliance with the Coastal Commission’s Certified Regulatory Program. Research, compile, synthesize, analyze, and interpret information to meet Harbor Department objectives. Direct and manage end-to-end project planning, scheduling, and execution, including preparation and review of Requests for Proposals, Requests for Bids, and project plans. Prepare complex written reports, provide recommendations, and implement approved solutions. Coordinate with internal departments, external agencies, and stakeholder groups on a wide range of issues. Independently judge the aesthetics of proposed projects and review plans for conformance with County standards. Coordinate with consultants, assemble reports, and oversee consultants’ work. Represent the County and Harbor Department on local boards, committees, and commissions. Provide accurate information, reports, and analysis in response to inquiries from elected officials, citizen bodies, and the public. Conduct field investigations of project sites. Perform other related duties as required. Education, Training, and Experience: Significant administrative support experience, including architectural design, urban planning, and/or planning-related project management. Previous experience in regulatory permitting and handling a variety of customers. Valid California driver license. Prior training or experience in planning, architecture, or geographic information systems (preferred). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of architectural design aesthetics, urban planning processes, research methods, interagency relationships, fiscal management, public relations, and project planning. Skill in reading maps, plans, and technical reports. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data for operational decisions; analyze problems and formulate solutions. Proficiency in preparing a variety of reports and recommendations. Effective public speaking and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with the public and agencies. Strong confidentiality and sound judgment when handling sensitive materials.
