Senior Automation Engineer

AbbVie seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to design, implement, and support automation systems across manufacturing and laboratory operations in Branchburg, NJ. The role involves leading complex configuration and programming of operational technology systems, providing technical expertise on process controls, and managing system lifecycle activities in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of automation projects across manufacturing and laboratory operations
- Serve as subject matter expert for process control systems, robotics, and system integration protocols
- Configure and program OT systems, validate upgrades, and perform troubleshooting of hardware and software
- Develop and execute system qualification protocols and supporting documentation
- Provide training to users and engineers on new automation technologies and control applications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering
- Minimum four years of relevant automation or process control experience
- SCADA and PLC expertise including Ignition and Allen-Bradley platforms
- Ladder logic programming and HMI graphics development skills
- FDA, GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and pharmaceutical manufacturing compliance knowledge
- Windows Server operating systems and network administration experience
- Technical leadership and vendor management capabilities
