About the Position

Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months of PCU experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Strong general PCU skill set - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - PIV starts - Chest tube management - NGT placement - Drain/tube management - Foley insertion/management - Medication drip management Description: This PCU offers 20 beds, with a blend of MedSurg and Progressive care. The unit manages various patient types, including heart failure, chest pain, and respiratory failure. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 for MedSurg and 1:3-4 for PCU. Support staff includes CNAs, receptionists, and a charge nurse who may have patients. Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws. An IV/VAT team operates from 11 am to 7 pm and 11 pm to 7 am. 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist services are provided. Telemetry monitoring is not available in this unit. Travelers may be required to float to other units, within scope and as needed. Weekend rotation is expected every other week. Travelers will be scheduled to work 75% of holidays. Up to 6 days off are permissible, excluding holidays, and the schedule cycle is every 6 weeks. The unit fosters a team-oriented culture.
