Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Schedule: 4 x 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15); 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio; minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks; float to other intermediate and critical care areas as needed; no call requirement

Highlights:

• Specialized neuro stepdown unit with 24-bed capacity serving intermediate neurological and medical patient populations
• Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Contract length flexible from 16+ weeks through February 27, 2027
• 32 hours of orientation including computer training and unit-based shifts
• Comprehensive patient population including stroke, traumatic brain injury, aneurysms, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgery patients
• Strong emphasis on teamwork and collaborative care environment

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience required
• Neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, or Telemetry experience required; strong neuro experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; CCRN, TNCC, and CPI preferred
• Epic charting experience required; must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Proficiency in titrating vasoactive drips including Levophed, cardiac drips, and insulin protocols
• Demonstrated competency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response
• Experience with advanced respiratory care including ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
• Comprehensive neurological skills including CVA care, post-TPA protocols, lumbar drains, craniotomy care, seizure management, and traumatic brain injury
• Advanced IV therapy skills including central line management, PICC lines, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with feeding tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis care, and surgical drain management
• Knowledge of heparin protocols, PCA management, and thrombolytic agent administration
• Willingness to float to other intermediate areas and critical care units as needed
• Ability to meet all behavioral expectations and adhere strictly to attendance policies
