Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Tech II

Our client, a retail pharmacy company, is looking for a Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Tech II for their Mendota Heights, MN location.

Responsibilities:

• Assists pharmacists with measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients to compound products and maintain the sterility and integrity of the final product.
• Follows a comprehensive labeling approach when working with compounded medications, creams, ointments, and capsules.
• Documents and accurately records steps taken, measurements, calculations, and any deviations or incidents that occurred during the compounding process.
• Communicates with technicians on appropriate cleaning protocols to assist in routine equipment maintenance for a safe and hygienic compounding environment.
• Compiles documentation for compounding activities to delineate ingredients used, procedures followed, and batch records.
• Operates within a pharmaceutical team that utilizes compounding equipment and technology to measure and prepare scales, mixers, ointment mills, and homogenizers.
• Observes the final compounded product, checking appearance and consistency to ensure that there are not any signs of contamination or abnormalities.
• Attends seminars, workshops, and training programs to develop professional, pharmaceutical knowledge and stay informed on compounding techniques and technology advancements in the field.
• Organizes the waste management system for the compounding area to differentiate hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, and recyclables.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active pharmacy technician license (unrestricted) in the state of Minnesota.
• Prior relevant work experience: 0-1 year.
• Working knowledge of problem solving and decision making skills.
• Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) preferred.
• Verifyable high school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year experience as a pharmacy technician coordinating activities in an administrative support function.
• National pharmacy technician certification. Eligible for state registration, certification or licensure per state regulations.
• Advanced computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet utilization.
• Excellent customer service skills (written and verbal) a must.
• Sterile compounding experience.
• Minimum (1) year experience required in a customer service position with high volume call center experience; preferably in healthcare, social services, or a similar service position.
