Key Responsibilities of the RN - Labor and Delivery

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments, monitor for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers

Requirements of the RN - Labor and Delivery

• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Current certification from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
• NRP and ACLS certification required (AHA only)
• RN License in the state of TX or compact
• 2 years of experience in the labor and delivery nursing specialty preferred
