Associate Scientist II, Digital Pathology & Image Analysis

AbbVie seeks an Associate Scientist II to develop and deploy automated image analysis workflows for digital pathology and spatial biology research. The role combines expertise in machine learning, image analysis platforms, and scientific programming to support drug discovery initiatives in immunology.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and deploy automated image analysis workflows for histopathology and spatial biology applications
• Design machine learning and deep learning models for cell segmentation, phenotyping, and biomarker quantification
• Develop custom Python scripts and automated pipelines for image processing and data integration
• Collaborate with pathologists, biologists, and data scientists to build scalable workflows for large imaging datasets
• Present analytical methods and results to scientific stakeholders and contribute to publications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Biology, or related field with 3+ years experience, or Master's degree with equivalent education
• Demonstrated experience with digital pathology platforms such as Visiopharm, QuPath, HALO, or ImageJ
• Strong proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Scikit-learn)
• Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS) and database infrastructure
• Deep understanding of image processing, machine learning, and image analysis core concepts
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
