Role Description The District Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in Newport News, VA, responsible for overseeing the performance and operations of multiple store locations within the district. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and coaching store managers, setting and communicating performance expectations, and monitoring sales, profitability, and expense control. The District Manager ensures consistent execution of company standards in merchandising, inventory management, store appearance, and customer service. This role involves analyzing store metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing action plans to drive results. The District Manager also focuses on talent development, staffing, and training, while promoting a safe, inclusive, and compliant work environment across all assigned stores. Qualifications Demonstrated retail leadership experience, including supervising multiple locations or large teams, and driving sales and operational performance. Strong skills in store operations management, including merchandising, inventory control, loss prevention, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Proficiency in analyzing financial reports and key performance indicators to identify trends, opportunities, and corrective actions. Effective communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to build inclusive, high-performing teams. Strong organizational and time-management abilities to prioritize tasks, manage travel within the district, and meet deadlines. Comfort using basic business software, point-of-sale systems, and digital tools to support reporting, scheduling, and communication. Ability to work on-site in Newport News, VA, visit stores regularly, and adapt to a fast-paced retail environment, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field preferred. Prior experience as a store manager, district manager, or multi-unit supervisor in retail or a similar customer-focused industry is highly beneficial. #J-18808-Ljbffr Dollar General
