Registered Nurse (RN) – Renal / Medical-Surgical Unit

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Type: Contract | 8 Weeks

Pay:
Local Rate: $1,650 – $1,750 Weekly
Travel Rate: $2,050 – $2,200 Weekly

Shift & Schedule: Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours Weekly | Every Third Weekend & Holiday Rotation Required

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care within a Renal and Medical-Surgical unit. This role focuses on caring for patients with kidney disease, renal disorders, and kidney transplant needs while also supporting a diverse medical-surgical patient population.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical assessment skills, experience with evidence-based nursing care, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to renal, kidney transplant, and medical-surgical patients.

• Perform holistic patient assessments including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs.

• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to providers and leadership.

• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.

• Administer medications, treatments, and renal-related nursing interventions.

• Perform and support peritoneal dialysis procedures utilizing manual and cycler methods.

• Assist patients throughout kidney transplant and post-transplant care processes.

• Utilize SBAR and standardized handoff communication methods.

• Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education.

• Maintain compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.

• Float to other units based on staffing and patient care needs.

• Support telemetry monitoring and patient observation activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License.

• Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association).

• Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing and/or Renal Nursing.

• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.

• Ability to work nights, holidays, and every third weekend.

• Ability to float to other units as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Kidney transplant patient care experience.

• Peritoneal dialysis experience.

• Renal nursing experience.

• Dialysis-related certifications.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
