Assistant General Manager

We are currently searching for an Assistant General Manager for Voco Times Square! The Assistant General Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for supporting hotel operations and assisting in the leadership of Department Managers to ensure the overall success of the hotel. This includes driving employee satisfaction, guest satisfaction, and adherence to brand quality standards. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, possess major brand and New York City hotel experience, and have a positive, solution-oriented mindset. This position requires flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Expectations Ensure departments achieve or exceed guest service scores and expectations. Assist Department Managers in preparing team member schedules in accordance with budgets and business forecasts. Conduct regular room inspections with the team to ensure quality standards are maintained. Ensure the operations team is trained in financial control procedures for cash handling, accounts payable, inventories, and receivables, and that procedures are consistently followed. Be knowledgeable about local attractions and restaurants, and ensure team members can make recommendations to guests. Respond to guest reviews and inquiries across all channels. Support human resources functions, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions. Collaborate with all departments to ensure seamless hotel operations. Participate in daily leadership stand-up meetings and report on guest satisfaction scores and key performance metrics. Lead team meetings and foster employee engagement. Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring daily, weekly, monthly, and annual departmental budgets and forecasts. Oversee vendor and personnel contracts throughout the hotel. Participate in the creation of annual revenue, expense, and capital budgets. Assist in developing incentive programs for team members. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience as a hotel Department Manager in a property with 200+ rooms required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with scheduling, interviewing, budgeting and forecasting, payroll processing, inventory management, and coaching and counseling team members. Ability to operate hotel PMS and accounting systems. Previous New York City and branded hotel experience preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively. Highly motivated team player with strong initiative, a drive for achievement, and the ability to motivate others. Proven ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve workplace challenges effectively. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment. Readily available and approachable for team members and guests while providing exceptional guest service.
